Blues suspended their vice captain Rilwan Waheed.

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has suspended their vice captain Rilwan Waheed due to disciplinary issues according to the club.

In a letter sent to Rilwan Waheed states that he is not attending the practice sessions as per the agreement.

“As per the agreement Rilwan Waheed didn’t join the practices of the club and also he is influencing other players not to join the practices. So, the management of the club will decide about your future.” Said in the letter sent to Rilwan from the club.

New Radiant is having a hard time after the refusal to attend the practices early this month due to unpaid salary. Blues paid the salary for the month of March 2016 on 17th May when they refused to play BG Sports Club in Ooredoo Dhivehi Premier League.

Maldivesoccer.com got some screenshots from the club manager Ameen Faisal saying that they will treat the players as per the contract and the players responded to that saying that the management should not highlight just one point in the contract.

Rilwan Waheed joined New Radiant on December 2014 on a two-year deal after sacking him in early 2014 due to disciplinary issues.

This boy is walking a disciplinary tightline for as long as one remember. Is he still not willing to learn from the mistakes? How long is he going to risk his career? Shame really a potential talent is wasted on the whims of fast life and silly antics when you remember he came so close to being the best defender couple of years ago.

He joins a long list of superb young talents that never fulfilled their potential. Adhuham, Kuda Thoddoo, Faisal, Maldivian football is littered with such characters. Rilwan should have seized his chance to go and play in Malaysia, but that deal mysteriously fell through. We always give Ashfaq a hard time over his refusal to attend a trial at Benfica, but why is it that our sports journalists never bother to ask the likes of Rilwan, Akram or Ansar, all of whom were alleged to have been contacted by foreign clubs? Yet here they are, wasting their talents at a place where football is well and truly lost and has no idea where it's going.
