Blues terminate contract with Riley

Rilwan Waheed playing against Maziya last season. His contract was terminated today.

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Club has terminated contract with their defender Rilwan Waheed on mutual understanding.

New Radiant refuse to talk about the matter on media but maldivesoccer.com can confirm that Rilwan’s contract was terminated due to an argument with their captain Imran Mohamed during the practice session held on last Sunday where Rilwan repeatedly use offensive and abusive language towards Imran in front of team mates and supporters.

New Radiant took disciplinary action against Rilwan Waheed (Riley) last May for actively participating a futsal tournament held in Malaysia without the approval from the club.

At that time the club had fine the player with his one-month salary and asked to apologise the coach and his teammates for his unacceptable behaviour.

It seems the club is not in any mood to tolerate any such behaviour from the player this time.

The national team should do the same. I was so embarrassed with the way the players behaved after getting knocked out against India in the SAFF Championship, and also after the Pakistan match during the 2010 Asian Games. New Radiant showed that you need to be disciplined to play at a top club no matter how good a footballer you are, so good for them.
