Blues to mark anniversary

New Radiant lifts this years Charity Shield. Blues will celebrate their 35th anniversary on 19th of this month.

Male', MALDIVES - New Radiant has announced that a friendly football match between club legends and current management team will be played on 19th August to mark club's 35th anniversary.

In a press conference held at FAM House today, club board member Ahmed Zareer said the main aim of the match is to mark club anniversary as well as celebrate a blues family day.

"New Radiant is one big blue family. The current management always want to continue with the support of former players. We just want to bring together this family to celebrate this important day" Zareer said.

Director of Football Anwar Ali said the legends team will have some of the biggest names of Maldives football history.

"Legends team will have very popular names such as Kuda Moosa, Shah Ismail, Ali Azim, Ibrahim Nooraddin and many more"

The club has also confirmed entrance is free for the game that will be played in national football stadium at 1600hrs.

Director of Administration Shaaz Habeeb said during the game fans can purchase a coupon for MVR200 and the selected winner will get the opportunity to travel with the club to an AFC Cup away game next year if the club qualified to the tournament.

New Radiant, founded on 19th August 1979, is the most successful football club in the Maldives. They are the reigning champions of all domestic tournaments. They have finished last season with a 100% winning record in all domestic games. New Radiant is also the most successful club in international tournaments being the only club to go past group stage of AFC Cup. New Radiant reached the semi final of AFC Cup in 2005 and quarter finals in 2013.
