Male’, MALDIVES – BG Sports Club has confirmed a spot in Dhivehi League for the upcoming season after beating United Victory in the qualification match played today. BG won the game by 2 – 0.

The result means, current Dhivehi League teams, Vyansa and Valencia will have to fight neck and neck for the remaining spot in tonight’s match. Vyansa will only qualify, if they manage to beat Valencia in tonight’s match.

Channa scored the opening goal for BG Sports in the 18th minute. Solah supplied a cross into the penalty area and Channa made no mistake to shoot.

Riffath missed a good chance to level the game in the 40th minute. He got the ball inside the box, while he was umarked inside the penalty area. But his shot went wide off the target.

BG Sports got a great chance to increase the lead in the 68th minute. Yasfaadh’s cross into the penalty area was controlled by Channa, but his shot went over the cross bar.

BG increased their lead in the 80th minute. Ali Shifau penetrated inside the penalty area and managed to dribble past the last defender to shoot. It flew to the top corner of the goal.
