Nothing shocking about. It is predictable from Maldives players, their courage and determination fly out the window the moment they come to know the hope of achieving anything is already gone. They don’t have in them to try hard and work for it till the last moment, even for the off chance that the other team might slip up just like how they themselves slipped up. They are too weak when it comes to holding out hope, for them once there is no 100% guarantee better to give up for good. This is their mentality. Had they won this match despite the uncharacteristic draw with Valencia, who knows what might happen next? Stranger things have happened in football!

Sadly, this typifies the spirit of Maldivian footballers. Maziya had all to play for in this match, but Suzain managed to drill into his players heads that there was "no chance" of winning the league after they drew with Valencia. I was rather disappointed by his post-match press conference. Why is it that whenever our national team goes a goal behind, we see their heads drop? We simply don't have the never say die attitude, which is one of the reasons why we hardly see Maldivian teams come from behind to win matches in the AFC Cup and national team matches.
