FA Cup: New Radiant 0 - 1 Eagles: New Radiant is out of FA Cup

Male', MALDIVES – New Radiant has also been knocked out of the ongoing FA Cup after they were beaten by Eagles in tonight’s match. Eagles won by 1 – 0. The only goal of the match was scored by Yoosuf Rameez early in the first half of the game. With the win, Eagles will play against All Youth Linkage (AYL) who won against VB Addu FC to book a place in the semifinal of the tournament.

In the 4th minute of the game Sobah headed Mukhthar’s free kick on target but Imran punched the ball from near post.

In the 6th minute of the game Eagles took the lead with a fine finish from Yousuf Rameez. Rameez matched with Rilwan’s cross and ended the ball in to the net from close range giving no chance to keeper Imran.

Three minutes remaining in the first half, Thariq (Tom) tried with a shot from left edge of the penalty area, but the shot went directly to goalkeeper Yamaan.

Right after the start of the second half Fazeel (Oppo) penetrated Eagles defense line and supplied a lower cross in to the penalty area but Tom failed to shoot the ball from close range.

In the 70th minute Shinaz Hilmy missed a golden opportunity to extend Eagles’ lead, Musthafa delivered a timely lower cross in to the penalty area but Shinaz’s close range shot was too much elevated.

Eagles kept on wasting time in the second half as they were on lead and New Radiant incurred pressure on Eagles defense but there was not much open space in the solid defense.

In the extra minutes of play New Radiant went close to equalize on two attempts but for sure the luck was not on their side as all their scoring chances were wasted.

After seven minutes of added time, match ended in a 1 – 0 score line in favor of Eagles which took them in to the semifinal of the tournament along with All Youth Linkage (AYL) who beats VB Addu FC in the first quarter final.
