FAM awards FIFA badges for 2015

Male’, MALDIVES – Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has awarded the FIFA referees badges to the referees and assistant referees for the year 2015 today in a function held at FAM House.

FAM’s normalization committee member Mohamed Nizam gave away the badges for the respective referees and assistant referees.

Ahmed Shifan Abdul Raheem, Ahmed Aslam, Ahmed Afsal and Zaeel Ali gor the FIFA referees badges for the year 2015 while, Ibrahim Thaufeeq, Jaufar Rasheed, Ahmed Akram and Ahmed Ameez got the FIFA assistant referees badges.

Speaking at the function Mohamed Nizam said that they are working on to increase the allowance for the referees.

“We are working on to increase the allowance for the referees and we are also working on to appoint a referees director soon.”

During the function normalization committee chairman Mohamed Shaweed handed over the AFC Silver Award to former FIFA assistant referee Mohamed Saeed.

Mohamed Saeed won the FIFA badge in 1993 and officiated the matches at the highest level of the game. He has officiated in the final of Asian Cup in 2000 and 2007.

And he also officiated in 2002 Korea/Japan World Cup, Olympics, African Cup of Nations, FIFA Confederations Cup and also various international tournaments at the club level as well.

Shaweed also awarded a special recognition certificate to Ali Saleem, who has worked as an assistant referee for the last 20 years for his outstanding service to the football.
