Male’, MALDIVES – A French striker has joined Presidents Cup champions Maziya Sports and Recreation Club for the upcoming season. French born Mickael Joseph Nicoise will join the club within next week according to club officials.

The 31 year old striker has capped by France at U-16 level and Guadeloupe at the senior level. He has also played for PKNS FC, Royal of Selangor Cup Selangor Selection team and S.P.A FC in Malaysia.

Maziya’s CEO Hussain Shifaz (Koky) said to Maldivesoccer.com that the player will arrive within the next week.

“Everything is finalized and the player will arrive within the next week and we are working on that.”

In a statement released from his agent, he has showed his happiness to be back in Asian football.

“I am feeling really excited about returning to Asia again and can’t wait to join my new teammates for training and games. I am looking forward to a whole new experience in a new country.”

The former PSG product was disappointed when he learnt that he would not be registered for the Asian Confederations Cup competition.

“I will love to play in the AFC Cup as I enjoy big games. They are always special and I am always motivated to perform in a bigger arena. Hopefully, I can help the team capture the double this season and as a reward, they can renew my contract and register me for next season’s competition!”

Maziya will play against New Radiant in the Charity Shield, the season opening match tonight at 2100 hours at National Football Stadium.

Good addition, hopefully. Slightly surprised that Maziya went for a striker instead a defensive player.
