Friendly against Tajikistan

Male’, MALDIVES – Football Association of Maldives has confirmed about an international friendly game against Tajikistan on 26th March at National Football Stadium here in Male.

Maldives national team will be gearing up for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches and the friendly match against Tajikistan would be the first international match under the helm of newly appointed coach, Bulgarian born Velizar Popov.

Maldives has played one international match against Tajikistan on 1st December 1998 at Suphamburi, Thailand which Maldives lost by 3-0 and in 2011 AFC Challenge Cup qualifying Maldives managed to get a point against Tajikistan after a goalless draw at National Football Stadium.

According to the Football Association of Maldives it will be a busy year for the National team as they will be competing in SAFF Championship, Indian Ocean Island Games, 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
