High security for WCQ

Male', MALDIVES - Maldives National Defense Force and Maldives Police Service has said that they will do everything possible to ensure that the WCQ between Maldives and Hong Kong will be a safe and smooth game.

In a joint press conference held at National Football Stadium Assistant Commissioner of Maldives Police Service, Naveen said that from the day of Hong Kong team's arrival they are doing everything that they have requested before.

''Police and MNDF is doing everything possible to fulfill their requirements and there are things that we have to follow as per the FIFA regulations as the host nation. So we are doing those things.”

“We will monitor and regulate the traffic near the stadium and at the same time we will petrol the area. Unlike other games no one can enter the stadium without a security screening from the gates.” Naveen added.

Football Association of Maldives general secretary Bassam Adeel Jaleel also said they will open the gates for the spectators from 1400 hours tomorrow.

“We will open the gates at 1400 hours and we are trying to finish the security screening by 1530 hours. I hope that the supporters will fully corporate the Police and MNDF officials through out the game. And if any one behaves or says anything against the things that we have briefed Police will take him.”

Maldives will play against Hong Kong tomorrow at 15:50 hours at National Football Stadium.

They are screening the wrong people. Supporters just want to watch their national team after a long time, it's all these politicians and their boot-licking security forces who are getting scared over nothing. All this fear mongering almost cost us another home match. These people never learn...
