History favours Victory in President's Cup

Male, MALDIVES– Victory Sports Clubs Manager Ahmed Ayaz Rasheed says that his side is ready to beat rivals New Radiant Sports Club in the first semi-final of Presidents Cup.

Defending Champions of President Cup, Victory Sports Club will face rivals NRSC this afternoon at 1550hrs. Winner of the match will secure the final’s first spot of the prestigious tournament while the loser will face the winner of the second semifinal (Maziya Sports and Recreation Vs VB Addu FC)

Speaking exclusively to maldivesoccer.com, Victory’s Manager Ayaz said that his team is fully prepared to face NRSC despite few injuries in the team.

“We are ready”.

“I have to note that Mohamed Shaffaz (Sappe) and our goalkeeper Lavent Vanli is injured and they can’t play against New Radiant”.

“Apart from Sappe and Lavent’s injury, we still have minor injury issues, as we are heading the end of a long football season”.

Victory Sports Club has won the Presidents Cup a record number of 21 times. Ayaz said that it’s an advantage for the team that history favors them.

“History favors us in Presidents Cup, and that’s a moral advantage for us”.

Meanwhile speaking to maldivesoccer.com, New Radiant Sports Clubs Head Coach Mohamed Siyaz (Mohan) said that his side will play for a win against Victory. He also noted that the team has faced some issues of Injuries.

NRSC’s Caption Ahmed Thorig (Tom) has been suspended for the game as he was dismissed with a red card in his last game.

Victory Sports Club and New Radiant Sports Club played in the finals of the Presidents Cup 2011. Victory came from behind to win the tournament by two goals to one in the final match played almost a year ago.

They were ready the last time, what happened then? And moral advantages mean nothing. Just because Victory won it alot, it doesn't mean that they're going to win today.
