Male’, MALDIVES – VB Addu FC’s Coach Can Vanli has criticized his boys for their commitment and attitude saying that he is not responsible for the loss. All Youth Linkage (AYL) knocked out VB Addu FC from FA Cup 2012 in penalty shootout after a 2 -2 draw in the 120 minutes of play.

Speaking to the media after the match, Vanli complained about the attitude of his boys both on and off the pitch.

“There is a player who came to only one training session in a whole month and this is unacceptable”.

“We didn’t loss this match today. We’ve lost it at the beginning of the season”.

Even though Vanli complained about his side, he refused to go into details. Showing his disappointment he clearly noted that he is not responsible for the loss.

“I don’t want to blame anyone. And I guess this is not the right time to talk about it”.

“But I am not responsible for the loss. I did all I can do”.

In the first quarter final of FA Cup, AYL came from 2 goals behind to draw against VB, and went for extra time.

AYL’s Coach Ahmed Athif (Aathee) was delighted with the performance of his boys and he praised his boys for their hard work against all star VB.

“I was frustrated in the beginning when we were one goal behind. But, in the half time, I saw the boys’ confidence”.

“Even as I said earlier, I was hoping for a win and ofcourse we also practiced for penalties."

AYL scored all their 4 penalties in the shootout while Ashfan and Faruhad missed their spot kick for VB.

AYL will face either New Radiant Sports Club or Club Eagles in the semi final of the FA Cup.

“All teams other than New Radiant are pretty equal. Apart from New Radiant it’s a 50-50 chance for any team against us”.

I feel very sorry for Vanli. Shaveed and co are destroying the reputation of a good coach. For all he did, he dosent deserve to be treated this way.

If he is not responsible, then who is? If a player turns up to training only once, then just kick them out of the team. They need to be professional, and so does the club management and coaching staff.

Now we know the real quality of Vanli. He could only win titles when Dhagey and all the best players were in the squad. I believe he has to take the responsibility since he failed to motivate his players.

So the only accomplishment of VB during this season is rebranding VB Sports to VB Addu FC? Sarcastically some people will ask and have a good laugh about it. Thrown out of FA cup and league almost out of reach, now they have nothing to look forward to, except may be FAM election to see how Ilham does it the race to become FAM president.
