Male’, MALDIVES – Club Eagles managed to get three points against Club Valencia after beating them by 2-0 in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League.

Valencia started the game with some tactical changes when compared to their previous games in the league. They used Nishan as a defending midfielder in tonight’s game rather than as a defender.

Eagles started the game very well and they hold the ball in the midfield and created some good chances.

Eagles broke the deadlock in the 18th minute from a wonderful shot by Hassan Adhuham just out side the box. Adhuham pass the corner kick to Easa and he pass it back to Adhuham and his shot out side the box went straight to the far corner of the goal.

Five minutes later Angel beat his marker and supplied a good ball into the box but Ahmed Rasheed failed to control it inside the box.

Nine minutes before the break Mamdhooh made a good shot on target inside the box but keeper Faisal cleared it for a corner kick. Wonderful save from the keeper.

Two minutes after the break Valencia’s Yoosuf Rameez missed a golden opportunity to level the game. His shot inside the box went wide.

A minute later Eagles striker Ahmed Rasheed doubled the lead from a superb shot inside the box. Shuaib tried to clear a free kick from Easa but keeper Ifrah punched it away and Ahmed Rasheed's shot from the rebounded ball goes into the goal.

In the 67th minute Easa gave a good ball to Angel inside the box but his shot went inches away from the goal post.

Seven minutes before the normal time Mamdhooh’s shot just out side the box went straight to the keeper Faisal.

Speaking at the press conference Eagles’ assistant coach Ahmed Nimad said that their target is to get 15 points in the first round and they are happy for achieving that.

“It was not a good game but we are happy to get three points in this match. Our main target is to get 15 points in the first round and we are happy for achieving that.”

“We scored an early goal and with that our confidence level boosted. So we took advantage of that and played well especially in the second half.”

Valencia’s coach Mohamed Shahid said that they played well but their problem is to score and had some injury problems.

“We played well even though we played this match without our three key players due to injury. But I am happy with the performance.”

“We aimed to get 9 points in the first round and we failed to achieve that and I can say it’s a huge loss for us and we have to fight for a place in the top six.”

BG Sports will play against AYL tomorrow night at 2100 hours.
