Kuala Lumpur, MALAYSIA – Maldives national team captain Ali Ashfaq has said that he will dedicate the success of winning the Malaysian Premier League 2014 to his third child to be born on early next month.

Speaking to maldivesoccer.com last night just after the game he said that he is very happy with this and he will dedicate it to his new child.

“I am very happy with this and I will dedicate it to my new kid who will be born early next month.”

He also added that this win is not only for him and it will be a good name for the Maldives and it will help the other players to get opportunities abroad.

“This is not only for mine and it will be a good name for the Maldives. And I am sure with this other players will be able to get opportunities to play abroad and hope they will use those chances to play.”

When asked about his future after the end of his current contract with PDRM, he replied that he would play abroad even in next year.

“I would play abroad even next year and I can say that I will be playing in Malaysian Super League even in next year. But for the time being I cannot say which team I will be playing. There are few teams who are interested in me. So I have to wait and see what is good for me.”

Meanwhile PDRM head coach, Dollah Salleh said that without Ashfaq they couldn’t win the title.

“Ashfaq played a vital role in winning the Premier League and I can say it would be very difficult for us to win the league without him. He is an important player for us and I will talk to the club management to arrange a way to keep him in this club.”

“I heard that some clubs have already started to scout him but I hope PDRM will stop him.”

PDRM lost tonight’s game against Kedah by 3-2 and Ashfaq managed to put his name on the score sheet. He has scored 18 goals in the Malaysian Premier League.
