An overall good match and a very good scoreline! But we mustn’t forget this was just one match and Maldives have a long way to go. So don’t let our confidence border on overconfidence, as it is very likely to happen. Let’s be grounded and take this as yet another historic victory for us. We must also remember Sri Lanka, for a large part of the game, had to play with ten men. So our real strength in the tournament cannot be assessed just as yet. One of the BIG statistics of this match was the number of time (more than 10) Maldives was caught in their offside traps. They were playing a high line, and we got trapped as our midfielders were not able to release the ball at the right time ( or players were not timing well their run). Either way this was something we need to rectify!!!

was Srilankan coach High. It was obvious from the start his defence tactics was heading for doom. After conceding so many goals they were still trying to hold such a high line. I would say pure madness. Any way we got all the goals so we should be HAPPY. Congratulation TEAM

Congrats to the team and the individual records made by Dhagey. Congrats to Niya too, for debuting in the game and to sentey for his first saff games goal.(I hope I got this right, but can't recall sentey playing in previous saff games). Savor the moment for a while and get ready for the next game. Couple of things I noticed in the game that could affect us in future games are defenders slipping too easily , may be due to wrong choice of foot wear for the damp and grassy pitch. I worry that after 9 games at this stadium and with the rainy condition in Nepal, the pitch may not be the most ideal for the passing game that our team is trying to play and improve. Let's hope that Nepali football association takes good care of it and maintains it in good form. Even today I felt some of the passes were falling short cos the pitch was not as hard as the one in Male'. One short pass could hurt us bad. But I am sure the coach and team will know about this much better than me and they will be ready for it. Once again congratulations to the whole team and wishing you success ipfor the remaining games. May Allah grant our team the courage and dedication to win this tournament. wishing Maldivian football all the best.

from the beginning of it self i knew that maldives can win this match easily !! there defending tactics were the best way to make ashfag score! he loves to take the run in the gap between defenders and penalty area! if lanka's coach had any info's about maldives he wouldnt do that! at least if he watched the friendly between maldives and pakistan!!

Amazing result but lets be honest, Sri Lanka made it easy for us by playing that ridiculously high line. No way are Afganistan going to use that type of tactic. The Sri Lankan coach probably watched our defeat to Thailand u19s and underestimated us.
