Thimphu, MALDIVES – Maldives beat Bhutan by 4-3 in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier tonight here in the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. Ali Ashfaq scored a hat trick against Bhutan and Ahmed Nashid scored his first international goal for the Maldives.

Ahmed Nashid opened the scoring in the 10th minute with his first goal for the national team from Ahmed Nashid from a wonderful pass from Mohamed Arif.

Twelve minutes later Ashfaq doubled the lead for Maldives from a perfect shot inside the box when keeper punched away the shot from Ahmed Imaz.

In the 34th minute Bhutan keeper was forced to make a good shot from Ashfaq inside the box after a good solo effort.

Maldives changed the score to 4-0 in the 56th minute from a penalty by Ashfaq when referee awarded them a spot kick after Ashfaq was brought down inside the box.

In the last ten minutes Bhutan scored three goals and changed the score to 4-3.

Maldives will play against Qatar in the next FIFA World Cup Qualifier on 13th of this month.
