Dhagandey is seen falling easily in the penalty area to earn a penalty which on another day would have seen him punished with a yellow card. In the WC qualifier against Bhutan he was shown a yellow for a similar tumble. I hope in the tournament he will be extra mindful of his role in the team and be careful that referees will be on the lookout for players who try to con them. In a tournament like this you are two cards away from suspension. What if the suspension comes for a match when your team need you most. Hope somebody drill this into him, n his responsibility that he cannot take lightly

I like the positive mood within the camp. Usually, there would always be some sort of controversy ahead of SAFF Championships, with coaches constantly complaining about the fitness levels and lack of preparation time. Ricki Herbert seems to be a more no-nonsense character and listens to no one else. He personally attended the DPL matches and hand picked the players whom he believed were the best players who are currently available. He cares nothing about the egos of the so-called "senior" players of the squad and only builds his squad out of players on merit. I think the younger ones, and the more intelligent older players really look up to him. He has also left behind the more disruptive members within the squad like Rilwan and Adhuham, who are always falling out with other players and lacking discipline in general. Yes, I am very hopeful of this tournament. India are sending out a weakened side and Pakistan have withdrawn, so I think if we apply ourselves well enough against Bangladesh and reigning champions Afghanistan, this could be ours again.

Maldives is the underdog. All other big teams in the saff will underestimate the weaker teams like Nepal and Maldives. So Maldives definitely has the chance to cause an upset. They could probably beat or most probably draw against the Indian B team. I am sure they can beat Bhutan and get a draw against better teams such as Bangladesh and Afghanistan
