Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreation Club lost today’s AFC Cup group F match to Indonesia’s Arema by 3-1.
Arema’s Hendro broke the deadlock in the 13th minute from a superb shot inside the box.
Eleven minutes later, Maziya’s Amdhan Ali leveled the game from a rebounded ball when keeper cleared Asadhulla’s header inside the box.
In the 30th minute Arema took the lead for the second time from a superb stunning shot from Gustavo after beating two defenders of Maziya.
Arema’s third goal came in the 70thminute from substitute player Dendi. Dendi’s shot just outside the box went straight in to the goal.
Speaking at the post match press conference Arema’s coach Suharno said that even though they won the match they still have to improve a lot.
“Even we won the match we have seen some positions that we need to improve. We read Maziya very well and score goals to win the game.”
“After the 3-1 lead we concentrate on the midfield and they concentrate very well during the game and I would like to thank them.”
He also added that Maziya played very well and specially in the last 20 minutes of the game.
”Maziya played very well specially in the last 20 minutes and their jersey number 29 was very good and very fast on the field.”
“We hope that we can lead the game as we have two more home games and one away game.”
Meanwhile Maziya’s coach Ismail Mahfooz (Imma) said that he is not happy with the result as well as the performance.
“I am not happy with the result as well as the performance of my team.”
Imma also reiterated that they can’t win these kind of matches if the players didn’t perform as a team on the field.
“At this level especially when we are playing a home game all our players have to give 100% and today the performance from my players was not as I expected.”
“We have to concentrate during the 90 minutes and perform very well on the field as a team. But today our performance was not like that.”
