Male’, MALDIVES – Maziya Sports and Recreation Club has booked a place in the final of People’s Cup after a goalless draw against New Radiant.

Both teams started the match with few changes to their starting line up but it didn’t show a big change in their game plan.

In the seventh minute New Radiant’s Rafael made a good shot on target but Maziya keeper Imran Mohamed saved it.

In the fifteenth minute Hussain Niyaz’s free kick went wide and few minutes later Ahmed Imaz shot wide another good chance.

In the fifty fourth minute Pablo hits the woodworks from a stunning header inside the box from a wonderful cross from Samdhooh.

Seven minutes before the normal time referee gave marching orders to New Radaint’s Mohamed Sifan.

Maziya booked a place in the final with five points from three games. PDRM FA will play against Singapore LionsXII tonight and after the game the second finalists will be decided.

congrats to maziya, they looked tired Today? Guess too many games Within a short period of time. But happy to see the future Of maldivian football performing better and better. To name a few, amdhan, irufan, yaamin and hampu are doing great. I wonder if the yet to be announced national coach is secretly in the stands watching the games. The media reported that the coach will come by pomis cup. Would hate for the coach to come and select from an old list whilst these youngsters are performing much better than some of the current national team players. Any ways great that PoMIS Cup is back and thumbs up for the current normalizing team at FAM.

Yes, it is a breath of fresh air to see the young guns taking the reigns and driving their team. I guess we Maldivians have always had this problem with change. We prefer to stick with the old guard and feel that deep sense of insecurity whenever a younger player needs to be introduced. There is this misconception among many of our fans that one day there will be some young wonderkid who will walk into the national team and set us alight. This cannot be further from the truth, as footballers need to play games to progress and I think it is ample time to introduce a few of the newer generation to the national team. Amdhan has sealed his place in the starting XI and I would love to see Irufan getting rewarded for his excellent form that he has displayed for the past year. Hope to see the likes of Yamin and Imaz follow in Asadhulla's footsteps and progress into mature footballers at Maziya. We need an injection of freshness to our football and the players I've just mentioned and even most of the Eagles squad and New Radiant's Suhail and Hampu can become very important for us if they're coached in the proper manner.
