Male’, MALDIVES – Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports Mohamed Hussain Shareef has announced that the government will give full support to host the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup to Maldives. He also commended the work by FAM and said that it was a good result of the team work together with the Ministry and Football Association of Maldives (FAM).
In an exclusive interview given to maldivesoccer.com minister said that they tried to host the tournament as a result of poor facilities and arrangements in Nepal.
“We tried to host the tournament as a result of the poor facilities that we suffered in Nepal. For sure we can serve much better than that.”
He also said that the government would give full support to FAM to fulfill the recommendations from AFC.
“We will give our full support to FAM to arrange those facilities that AFC suggests us to do.”
Minister also highlighted that they have to do a lot of work in the next year and most of them would be the renovations of the infrastructure.
“We are going to host one group in Male and the other in Addu City. We have to do so many renovations in Galolhu Stadium as well as the Hithadhoo Zone Stadium in Addu City.
“If everything goes smooth we will do that within the time frame and make this a success. It’s a new begging for us and with the help of this tournament we can improve the conditions of the infrastructures in our country.”
He also highlighted the hard work done by the heads of FAM and thank them all for their efforts to make this a reality.
