Mukhthaar retires from international football

Male', MALDIVES - Mukhtar Naseer (Twokilo) has retired from international football after playing a vital role in the team for long time. Even though Twokilo was not available to comment on his retirement, National Team manager Ibrahim Amir (Salsa Amir) confirmed Twokilo’s retirement.

“Twokilo has retired from international football. He has officially informed Football Association of Maldives (FAM) about his retirement”.

Twokilo scored the winning goal against India in the finals of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship to lift the tournament for the first time in the history of Maldivian Football. He also won Football Association of Maldives (FAM) footballer of the year award in 2008.

Twokilo is currently playing for Eagles and his performance has dropped significantly compared to the last few seasons.
