National Stadium re-branded

Male’, MALDIVES – National Stadium has been re-branded tonight as National Football Stadium by HE President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom.

In a function held at National Football Stadium President Yameen opened the stadium after the renovation work for the AFC Challenge Cup.

Minister of Youth and Sports Mohamed Maleeh Jamaal said that it will be a good investment for the Maldivian youth and they are working not only to renovate National Football Stadium.

“We are working on renovating not just National Football Stadium but we are working on more than 80 sports arena’s throughout the country for the youth.”

“We have upgraded the National Football Stadium to AFC criteria and along with this we have upgraded Hithadhoo Zone Stadium and as a result of this we will be getting more chances to host other AFC tournaments in the future.”

Maleeh also said that they are working on to build a 30,000 seats stadium in Hulhumale.

“We are working on to build 30,000 seats stadium in Hulhumale and we have proposed drawings of the stadium from a Malaysian party.”
