National team departs for Nehru Cup

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldivian National Football team departed to India this morning to take part in prestigious Nehru Cup football tournament which is scheduled to kick off tomorrow at New Delhi, India. According to team manager Ibrahim Amir (Salsa Amir) 20 players and six officials who departed this morning via Colombo, is expected to reach Delhi this afternoon.

Ahmed Thoriq (Tom), Ahmed Nashid (Naatte) and Mohammed Yamaan was dropped from the national team squad for the upcoming Nehru Cup. Ibrahim Fazeel (Oppo) and Fairooz Adam Sameer were ruled out due to injury. Mukhthaar Naseer who was included in the preliminary squad announced his retirement from international football.
