Male, MALDIVES – New Radiant Sports Clubs Coach Mohamed Shiyaz (Mohan) says that the effort by the players was the main reason behind the win against Victory Sports Club in the first semi-final of the presidents Cup.

New Radiant confirmed the first place in the final of the President’s Cup after beating Victory by 2 – 1.

Neither team was able to score in the regular time and goals by Ali Ashfag from the spot, and a surprising unusual goal by Goalkeeper Imran Mohamed in the extra time gave NRSC the lead. The only goal for Victory was scored by substitute Fauzan.

Speaking after the match, Mohan showed his satisfaction over the effort by his side.

“We played without three of our key players (Ali Umar, Tom and Ivan), but the youngsters commitment and effort gave us the win”.

“Actually the win wasn’t because we played well, it’s only because of the effort by the players. I am very happy with the effort put on by the youngsters”.

Meanwhile Victory’s Coach Suzain said that it was an unlucky day for his side.

“We played well in the first half, but we couldn’t perform well in the second half’.

Suzain said that the goal by Imran was carelessness of his goalkeeper Faisal.

“Faisal was too careless and it costs us the goal”.

As Victory lost todays match, they now have to play against the winner of second semi-final (Maziya Sports and Recreation Vs VB Addu FC)
