Addu City, MALDIVES – Club Eagles managed to get a point against Maziya after a 1-1 draw today in the ongoing President's Cup match played in Hithadhoo, Addu City. Ismail Easa and Mohamed Umair scored the goals, both came from the spot.
Eagles skipper Ismail Easa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute from a penalty when referee awarded them a penalty when Toni brought down Easa inside the box.
Mohamed Umair leveled the game in the 87th minute when referee awarded them a penalty for a foul on Asadhulla Abdulla inside the box.
With this win Maziya managed to confirm the first place of group B with seven points from three games while Eagles booked a semi final place as the runners up of the group with five points from three games.
Maziya’s coach Ali Suzain showed his frustrations after the game about the tactics of Eagles.
“They tried to waste the time even from the beginning of the game and it was not a game that the supporters wanted to see.”
“We also have the chance to advance to the semi final as the group winners after a draw but we wanted to win the game not just a draw.”
On the other hand Eagles coach Ihusan Abdul Gani said Maziya coach has no idea about the game plan on Eagles.
“Maziya coach will know only the game plan and tactics of Maziya but not Eagles. Eagles coach will decide how Eagles will play.”
“We tried to delay the game and we wanted a point against Maziya. They have 12 players from the national team and I am pleased with the performance of our young players.”
Club Valencia will play against Victory tomorrow in the last match of this group.
