President’s Cup 2013: New Radiant 3 – 1 Maziya

Male’, MALDIVES – New Radiant SC has reached in to the final of the President’s Cup 2013, after beating Maziya 3 – 1 in the first semifinal match played tonight. Ashfaq scored twice and Umair scored the other for New Radiant SC while Arif scored the only goal for Maziya.

Right after the kick off to the game New Radiant created the first attempt of the match, Ashfaq gave a good pass to unmarked Ali Fasir inside the penalty area but Fasir’s shot went inches away from the target.

Ashfaq created another good scoring chance to Hussain Niyaz (Bokury) in the eighteenth minute of the game. Bokury matched with Ashfaq’s through pass and shoot the ball from inside the penalty area but the weak shot went in to keeper’s hand.

Ashfaq dribbled past four defenders of Maziya and took a shot from close range in the 24th minute of the game, but the shot was saved by keeper Imran.

In the next minute Nashid could have put Maziya to lead if he was bit sharp inside the box. Nashid escaped from defender Shifan and shoot the ball from close range but keeper Imran blocked it.

Seven minutes later Fasir saw his powerful shot from left edge of the penalty area wiped out inches away from the far post.

New Radiant took the lead in the 56th minute of the game. Ashfaq beat three defenders of Maziya and pasted his powerful shot in to the back net giving no chance to keeper Imran.

Five minutes later Arif (Bakaa) leveled the game for Maziya with header from Ahmed Mohamed’s free kick. Bakaa well headed Ahmed’s free kick from far post in to the goal while Imran moved to save the ball.

Bokury tried his luck with a shot from edge of the penalty area in the 68th minute but the powerful shot went inches over the crossbar.

Two minutes remaining in the clock New Radiant substitute player Umair regain the lead after hitting an accurate shot in to the far bottom corner of the goal.

Ashfaq added another goal for the Blues in the added minutes and assured the first spot of the final match of most prestigious tournament in the season.

In the next game of the competition BG Sports will play against All Youth Linkage tomorrow night at 21:00 where the winner will face Maziya in the battle for the other spot of the final match.
