Shaweed to compete in FAM election

Normalization committee chairman, Mohamed Shaweed has decided to compete in FAM election.

Male’, MALDIVES – Football Association of Maldives normalization committee chairman Mohamed Shaweed has decided to compete in the upcoming election of FAM.

“I have decided to contest in the upcoming FAM election with lots of respect and support from the football clubs in this country. I would like to thank all the clubs for their continuous support and trust on me in this journey.” Shaweed said in his official Facebook today.

Football Association of Maldives has said before that they will host the election on 22nd October this year and the interested candidates must submit their applications on or before 16th of this month.

Under the new statutes, the presidential candidate must submit a list of members who are behind him to run for the election. In addition, the president must have the support of five clubs in order to run for the presidential race and three of those clubs must be from the first division.

With the new statutes 44 member clubs from different zones, first division, second division and third division can vote to elect the new president of Football Association of Maldives.

FAM has formed an electoral committee to take the responsibilities of the election and the members in the electoral committee are Administrator, Judicial Administration, Hassan Saeedh Hussain (Chairman), and State Minister at Ministry of Housing, Mohamed Faiz and Superintendent of police Mohamed Dhawood.
