Singapore lions to compete in POMIS Cup

Ali Ashfaq playing for PDRM FA, he will join with PDRM in POMIS Cup later this month.

Male’, MALDIVES – Singapore Lions and PDRM FA have officially confirmed to compete in the POMIS Cup to be held from 22-28 January 2015.

Speaking at a press conference held at FAM House, the chairman of normalization committee Mohamed Shaweed said that both the teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament.

“Ali Ashfaq is the icon of Maldivian football and we will not get any chance to see him playing at National Football Stadium this year. So we decided to invite his team and we thank them for accepting our invitation.”

Singapore Lions is playing in Malaysian League and it was formed by the Football Association of Singapore. Mostly Singapore’s under 23 team players are playing in this club and there will not be any foreign based player in this club.

PDRM FA and Singapore Lions will arrive to Maldives on 21st January for the tournament.

So we decided to invite his team and we thank them for accepting our invitation.” Er, no Shaveed. The national team has very important 2018 FIFA World Cup / 2019 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers coming up. The matches are scheduled to begin on July. I would've expected him to know this fact.
