Tajikistan beat Maldives

Male’, MALDIVES – Maldives lost their international friendly match against Tajikistan by 2-0 last night at the National Football Stadium in Male’.

Maldives started the game without captain and ace striker Ali Ashfaq who was recovering from a hamstring injury sustained during the Malaysian Super League. However without the star player, Maldives created three good goal scoring opportunities.

In the 16th minute Hussain Niyaz missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock from a good header inside the box from a descent cross from Asadhulla.

Four minutes later, Tajikistan’s Zalilovic broke the deadlock from a good header inside the box.

In the second half Maldives made some changes and controlled the game but failed to create much open chances.

Zalilovic doubled the lead for Tajikistan in the 62nd minute after a good solo effort to beat two defenders of Maldives to put it into the net.

Nashid and Asadhulla missed two good chances to score after the second goal from Tajikistan.
