Thariq submits application

Male', MALDIVES - Former national team and New Radiant striker Ahmed Thariq (Tom) submitted his application for the presidential race of the upcoming FAM election.

A reliable source has confirmed to Maldivesoccer.com that Thariq was the only candidate submitted the application. Previously it is believed that former chairman of Normalization Committee of FAM, Mohamed Shaweed will contest in the election. However, he didn't submit his application.

Maldivesoccer.com tried to contact Shaweed but we were unable to get a comment from him as he didn't answer the phone.

Football Association of Maldives has passed and adopted the statutes as per the recommendation by FIFA and Home Ministry in the congress held on 7th of May.

Football Association of Maldives has tried to host the election thrice before but due to the failure to provide the necessary approvals for the meeting.
