Tought teams to Addu City

Male’, MALDIVES – Current super powers in Maldivian football lies in the group B of the President’s Cup after the draw held last night at FAM House. Group B includes Maziya, Valencia, Victory and Club Eagles.

Group A includes defending champion New Radiant, Mahibadhoo, TC Sports and BG Sports. Group A matches to be played in Kulhudhufushi Stadium while the group A matches and two semi finals including the final will be played in Addu City stadium.

General secretary of FAM, Bassam Adeel Jaleel thanked the clubs for agreeing the changes that they made to the calendar recently.

“I would like to thank the clubs for giving their full support for the changes we made to the football calendar recently and I hope that they will move forward like that during this tournament as well. We know there might be some hiccups as this is the first time that we are playing President’s Cup in difference two venues simultaneously.” Bassam said.

Meanwhile Maziya coach Ali Suzain said that it would help to improve the popularity of football.

“Surely this will motivate the players who are interested to play football in the islands and the popularity of football will improve in the islands.”

“This will be a huge boost for the Maldivian football and this is the first time that these top level teams are competing in a tournament in a local island simultaneously.”

President’s Cup is scheduled to be kick off on 15th September in Addu City and Kulhudhufushi.
