Male’, MALDIVES – After a hard fought match against Victory, New Radiant managed to get three points after beating them by 1-0 in the ongoing Dhiraagu Dhivehi League. Mohamed Umair scored the only goal for the Blues in the 71st minute from a superb free kick.

New Radiant started the game without their Australian born midfielder Dane, who was suspended for this match due to a sending off in the last league game. While Victory kick off the game with their regular starting eleven.

Under the helm of Finland born coach, Mika Lonnstrom, New Radiant’s performance was improved a lot when compared to their last league games and in today’s game against Victory they started a high tempo pressing game.

New Radiant predictable monopolized possession in the early stages, But Fazeel’s first attempt went wide from a descent cross from Ali Fasir.

Three minutes later, Fasir then saw a shot narrowly went wide as the pressure began to mount.

Viktor delivered a good ball to Nihan, who was inside the box but Shifan cleared it from the danger zone.

Athif was pressed into a save in the half hour mark to stop the cross from David, which was supplied to Fasir who was in the box.

Athif was forced to make another good save to stop the shot from Mohamed Umair inside the six yard box, which he made after beating his marker.

Three minutes after the break Umair missed another open chance to broke the deadlock while he fired the shot over the bar inside the box.

In the hour mark New Radiant introduced Ahmed Thoriq to strengthen their striking force instead of defender Shafiu who was taken out on stretcher due to a head injury.

Mohamed Umair stamped a definitive mark on proceedings just twenty six minutes after the break when he rifled a powerful right-foot shot into the corner of Athif’s net to break the deadlock.

Mohamed Umair sent another stunning shot inside the box went wide just inches away from the post seven minutes before the normal time.

Victory introduced Ibrahim Shafraz two minutes before the normal time to strengthen the striking force, but Blues were in firm control as they comfortably finish the game with a win.
