Male’, MALDIVES – Club Valencia has secured a place in the top six of Dhiraagu Dhivehi League after beating Club Eagles by 1-0 in the last game of the second round of the league.
Valencia created their first chance in the 10th minute from Abdul Rasheed Mahir. His shot outside the box went straight to the keeper Faisal.
Keeper Faisal was forced to make another save in the first minute of the second half to clear the corner kick from Valencia and Shaffaz shot from the rebounded ball went wide.
In the 64th minute, Eagles skipper Nooman made a stunning shot outside the box but went over the bar.
Valencia broke the deadlock in the 66th minute, keeper Faisal failed to clear the shot from Ali Hamdhaan and Ismail Ahmed headed the ball into the net to change the score to 1-0.
Seven minutes before the normal time substitute player Ahmed Imaz penetrated the defense line of Valencia and made a good shot but it was deflected for a corner kick.
With this win Valencia managed to get fifth position of the table with 13 points from 14 games while Eagles lies on third position with 23 points from 14 games. League leaders New Radiant got 39 points from 14 games.
