Male’, MALDIVES – Sun Hotels and Resorts are in to the finals of the ongoing Women’s Championship after beating Iskandhar PTA after a penalty shootout. Sun Hotels and Resorts won the match by 5 -4. Sun Hotels and Resorts will play against Dhivehi Sifainge Club in the finals.

None of the teams manage to score a goal despite open goal scoring chances during regular 60 minutes of the game.

The first penalty was scored by Fathimath Saliya for Iskandhar. Nashima Ibrahim of Sun leveled from the spot after scoring the next penalty. Mariyam Mohamed’s penalty for Iskandhar went wide off the target. Aminath Zaahiya then scored for Sun Hotels and Resorts. Sheeneez Mohammed then scored for Iskandhar School. Fathimath Afza scored the next penalty for Sun Hotels and Resorts. Shiyana Ahmed Zuhair’s penalty for Iskandhar hit the cross bar. Areesha Riza’s penalty for Sun Hotels and Resorts also went wide off the target. Simwa Abdul Latheef scored for Iskandhar to make it 3 – 3. Aishath Maahin’s penalty also hit the cross bar for Sun Hotels and Resorts. Fathimath Shabana then scored for Iskandhar to make it 4 – 3. Farah Ahmed scored for Sun to make it 4 – 4. Yumna Abdul Azeez’s penalty went straight into goal keeper Saigan Hussain’s hands. Fathimath Sameera scored the winning penalty for Sun Hotels and Resorts.

Queen of the match was won by Aminath Zaahiya of Sun Hotels and Resorts.

The final match will be played between Dhivehi Sifainge Club and Sun Hotels and Resorts on 30th December 2012 at 1615hrs in National Stadium.
