Ashfaq waiting for the release from his current club, Malaysia's PDRM FA.

Male’, MALDIVES – General Secretary of Maldives Olympic Committee’s Ahmed Marzooq (Marey) has said that they are working hard to get the release for Ali Ashfaq not just as a football team player but also as the Ambassador of Maldives Olympic Committee.

“We are working on that and we are hopeful to get the release for Ashfaq. We know PDRM have important matches ahead and they are spending a lot of money to get success as a professional team.” Marzooq said in an exclusive interview to maldivesoccer.com.

“We have so many things arranged in the Incheon Asian Games including Ashfaq as the ambassador of the MOC and we will work till the last minute to get the release.”

“We want him to lead the Maldives contingent as you all know this is biggest ever contingent from the Maldives to participate in an international tournament.”

Earlier FAM has also said that they are in contact with PDRM to get the release for one of the best football players in South East Asia.

Maldives U 23 team will depart to South Korea on 11th of this month and their first match will be against Thailand on 15th of this month. Maldives will playe their second match on 18th against Indonesia and the last match of the group E is against East Timor on 22nd of this month.

Marey you are trying to spoil the player-club relationship by making unreasonable demand for his release. If they wanted release him they would had done so already. So dont be a pain on others on the pretext ambassador thing. What is with an ambassador anyway, is it a passport to everything, bringing it up everything, as if that will rescue you

These people are so adamant to get the release, not least bothered how will it might damage his relationship with his club. He could not go to benfica because somebody frm valencia got into his head.

If these people do little bit of work to get advance knowledge about player's availability in time for the tounament and do things the way responsible people do, you will not have to wait anxiously till the last moment. Now nobody is sure what is going to happen, whether he will get release or not, coach is not sure how his team's best formation will be, players are in state of anxiety. This is the pathatic status of how team's preparation, rushing through everything. Now they are living on hope as if it is their salvation.

This is too funny! Marey and MOC are trying to make PDRM think they have no choice in this matter by making Ashfaq the Ambassador. PDRM pays him $20,000 a month. Do you really think they are going to consider it wise to send him to play with kids while the biggest game of the club's history, the quarter-finals of the Malaysian FA Cup is coming up? MOC, FAM and all these bodies consist of people with stone age mentalities. This is why sports in Maldives will never improve. Ashfaq also needs to understand this. He has to step aside and give a chance for real under-23 players in order to give them more exposure to international football.

Well said. I advise him to pull out his name from the list and let his friends and other young guns go out there and play for their nation. PDRM needs Ashfaq and Ashfaq needs to be with the team at this professional trial with PDRM for the future of his carrier

This is time dhagey has taken a stand. Marzooq is pushing too hard with this ambassadorship. If PDRM management and coach get provoked they might take off dhgay from first team and if he contest their decision they may even think of terminating the contract. You never know, stranger things have happened in the world of football.
