YC2013: Valencia wins youth championship

Male’, MALDIVES – Club Valencia has won the Youth Championship today after beating BG Sports by 2-0. Valencia’s two goals were scored by Abdul Wahid in the second half of the match.

In the first half Valencia dominated the game and created some chances. In the 25th minute Muan Moosa Manik made a good shot but it went wide.

Valencia’s skipper Abdul Wahid Ibrahim broke the deadlock in the 46th minute of the game from a superb volley.

In the 64th minute referee awarded a penalty to Valencia when BG Sports player handed the ball inside the penalty area. Abdul Wahid doubled the lead from the spot.

Valencia’s Ahmed Visham, Ibrahim Labaan, BG Sports Mohamed Shabeen Adam and VB Addu FC’s Ahmed Sujau were awarded as the best four players in the tournament.

Champion Valencia received a cash prize of MVR 20,000 and runners up BG Sports received MVR 10,000. Fair play team was awarded to New Radiant Sports Club.
