It's a disappointment that Dhivehi teams did slightly worse than last year in the AFC Cup. However, on ething to note is that both Maziya and New played better in their final matches, particularly Maziya. I wonder if the players were fitter from having played more league games, the AFC campaigns migt have been more successful. Most of the opponent clubs had been playig for a while as 5 their leagues started long-time before our Dhivehi League did. FAM should seriously consider doing the same - start the season earlier than the current schedule. This would help us next year.

What you stated is half the solution to our clubs problems in the AFC Cup, yet FAM still amazingly seems to be blind to this. Maziya conceded stoppage time equalizers in two of their home games after defensive lapses likely caused due to exhaustion, hence a lack of concentration at key moments late in the matches. Most of the clubs have been playing a lot more games than Dhivehi sides when matchday 1 of the AFC Cup began. The Ooredoo DPL however, have seen all the sides play only two matches and now we're in May. Hopefully the footballing community will side together and hold this FAM elections, because this saga has dragged on for long enough and now we're falling behind, in terms of club and national team development, as well as public interest in Dhivehi football. We have not had a full stadium even for our national team since the semi-final of the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup, which is deeply worrying. While interest in the local club football has waned dramatically over the past decade, it would be absolutely disastrous if the same happened to the national team. I remember when people used to get excited in the mid-2000s at the prospect of foreign teams gracing the Galolhu Stadium in the AFC Cup. Now, the stadium is virtually empty, with the only noises heard during matches being the sounds of coaches barking out instructions and construction work going on outside the stadium.

Yet another toothless AFC cup campaign! Yet another reason to believe our clubs are not bothered to make improvements on the previous season! They just casually go about it season after season with the whatever squad they have as if a set of dentures will do. Only when they lose the chance to play continental football may be they will realise how precious an opportunity they lost!
