The win took Eydhafushi (Green) to the top of Group 1

Male', MALDIVES - Eydhafushi ZJ stunned the defending champions Mahibadhoo ZJ by beating them 4-1 in Dhivehi League Qualification zone 1-8 match played today. Jeribe Kelechi scored twice for Eydhafushi to grab the vital win and move to the top of their respective group.

Man of the match, Jeribe gave Eydhafushi the lead very early in the game. A free kick from Ishan Ibrahim was punched away into the play by Mahibadhoo keeper and another Eydhafushi player took a shot but went across the goal before Jeribe had a touch to change the direction into the back of the net.

Hassan Fayaz of Mahibadhoo brought them back into the game soon after heading a cross by Naushad.

Ebere Chukuwu gave Eydhafushi the lead again in the 22nd minute, heading a Mamnoon’s cross past a helpless Mahibadhoo keeper, who was later substituted for an injury.

Jeribe doubled the lead for Eydhafushi before the half ends.

Eydhafuhi’s last goal was scored by substitute player Ahmed Nishan in the 90th minute of the game. Nishan beat an opponent’s defender and sent the ball in between the goal post and second choice keeper.

Eydhafuhsi sacked their former coach after a disappointing start in the competition where they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mahibadhoo RJ. Eydhafushi started today’s game under the guidance of their new coach Mohamed Nazeeh.
