With their third consecutive AFC Cup defeat this year, New Radiant’s time to crash out of the competition is looming. An early goal from Shariff put Singapore Armed Forces FC’s feet firmly on the home ground of 2005’s semi finalist and a late first half goal plus a an own goal from Amil strengthened SAFFC’s position at the top of the group with three wins in three game, an excellent record for Richard Bock’s men.
The visitors pulled the trigger for the first time in the fourth minute of the game, but unlucky for them as the shot didn’t carry much power. But three minutes later Shariff put the visitors ahead and New Radiant’s coach Gerd’s frustration had no limits.
SAFFC’s top scored Duric then fired a shot in the 17th minute, but the aiming wasn’t so good to trouble the fragile blues.
The first half was under full domination of SAFFC and they created chance after chance and New Radiant failed to show anything in reply.
Five minutes passed half and hour, the warriors went close to double their lead; a long range effort from Wilkonson nearly touches Sadun’s finger tips but more importantly the effort was denied by the cross bar.
New Radiant’s only chance in this half was created in the 43rd minute of the game. A one to one attempt from Akram and Daniel was blown away when Daniel failed to roll the ball back to Akram.
In the next minute Duric doubled their lead from Mustaqim’s cross, on positioned Sadun dived but couldn’t reach the ball.
New Radiant tried to improve their attacking power in the second half but the tight defense from SAFFC kept them distanced.
New Radiant was down to 10 men in the 58th minute when Adam Shareef was given the marching orders for a second yellow.
In the 61st minute Sadun punched away a dangerous effort from the visitors.
In the70th minute a header from Daniel missed the target nearly.
Sadun was forced to punch away a long range effort from Kenji in the 75th minute, Duric tried to attempt the rebounded ball but Amil cleared the danger.
Late in the game, a miscommunication between Sadun and Amil ended the latter heading the ball into his own goal.
Disappointed home supporters left the ground with nothing while the visitors left with three points.
