New Radiant and Victory would deeply be worried when they face the giants of Hong Kong both in Male’ and in Hong Kong on 6th of March. New Radiant will be playing against their fierce rivals, Happy Valley in front of New Radiant supporters while Victory Sports Club will be playing against Sun Hei of Hong Kong in Mongkok Stadium at 1930hrs Hong Kong time.

When we look at both teams of Hong Kong, they are the key leaders of Hong Kong league for the past few years. They have been playing against Maldivian teams for the past years and they had major successes and failures as well. Happy Valley and Sun Hei are not new teams for Maldives for sure. But the real question we should ask ourselves is whether we have learnt any thing from our mistakes.

When we look at Happy Valley’s current form they have played 5 matches in Hong Kong league 1, where they drew one match, lost 2 matches and won 2 matches. They have scored 8 goals and conceded 10 goals. They have scored around 1.6 goals per match. The highest scoring match by them was played against Hong Kong FC where they beat them by 5-2. The biggest loss for Happy Valley came on 3rd  March as they were beaten severely by 5 -0 in their game against Kitchee.

Next comes, Sun Hei FC, has a better record this year. They have won 3 matches out of the five matches they played and drew the rest. They did not so far loose any of the games. Sun Hei FC has scored 9 goals and conceded just two goals. They have scored 1.8 goals per match. Their highest scoring match was against Lanwa and Hong Kong 08.

In 2005, Sun Hei FC topped the group in which Valencia also competed. Sun Hei won the group with 3 wins and 3 draws. Sun Hei has beaten Valencia by 6 -1 in Hong Kong in 2005 and has managed a draw in Male’. Sun Hei went in to the semi finals of AFC Cup that year and lost to Al Najmeh.  While in 2006 Sun Hei was included New Radiant’s group. They got 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. They beat New Radiant by 5 – 2 in Mongkok and won 2-0 in Male’.

In 2005 Happy Valley played against New Radiant and was on the bottom of that group. New Radiant beat Happy Valley by 2-0 both home and away. In 2006, Happy Valley won 3rd place in their group. They won against Huriyyaa by 3-0 in Hong Kong and managed to get a 1-1 draw in Male’.

New Radiant has the opportunity to use the psychologically defeated Happy Valley when they play in the home game on 6th. New Radiant supporters should try to defeat them psychologically with the blue colour.

Victory Sports Club would face an up hill task when they come out on 6th March in Mongkok Stadium. With the upset of foreign players in hand Victory would be facing a huge task. But key defenders like Anil and goal keeper Imran set to be fit would bring the desired smile for the red fans.

So for sure both teams are not new for Maldives and we have to see how much these teams have changed when we face them this time.
