MALDIVES - FAM
has confirmed that their Awards night is scheduled to be hosted
on the 9th of February 2005. General Secretary Ibrahm Ismail, in
a news conference today said that the awards are given in appreciation
of the hard work and the enthusiasm shown by the players.
"The
awards are given to appreciate the hard work, enthusiasm and the
commitment shown by the players'
He announced
the various awards that would be awarded which includes;
Best Three players
2005 ( Best and runner-up)
Top scorer
Under 21 Best player
Fair Play player
Best Goal keeper
Best Team
Ibrahim Ismail
also stated that a sum of MRF 54,000/- is awarded in total for all
the awards which includes 10,000/- for the Best player and 5000/-
for the best team.
In the ceremony,
FAM's newsletter and the website would be officially relaunched.
Executive secretary Hussien Rasheed said that the newsletter has
been stopped due to the financial difficulties
"Printing
costs were too high. So we could not spend such a big amount. But
now we got some sponsors, so we would again start the newsletter.
Hopefully it would be published regularly"
Hussein also revealed that unlike last year, FAM would not give
awards by position wise this time.
"We cannot
give awards for best midfield, defence and forward. As some players
play as a striker and then later changes to a midfielder. So we
started giving awards for specific positions after each tournament"
