  Founded in 16 October 1979, Club Valencia carries some interesting historical facts of Maldivian football. They are the first local club, who started paying a salary to players. The most successful team of both Cup Winners Cup and Dhivehi League as they won first three edition of Cup Winners Cup and first four edition of Dhivehi League. They were the best team of the season from 2000-2004, the very first four years the award presented.
