Maldives   Head Coach

Football has been practicing in Maldives from late 1940s, but Football Association of Maldives (FAM) as the governing body of all football related activities was founded in 1982. Maldives became a member association of AFC and FIFA in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Maldives successes include winning silver twice in SAFF Championship and another in SAFF Games. A draw against World Cup semi finalists South Korea in a WC Qualifying match was another bright day.

The Slovakian mastermind is back for Maldives once again. The man who took Maldives close to winning their first ever regional title left the post long time ago. But Joseph Yankez once again will shape Maldives national team in this year's SAFF Championship.

Yankez's credentials include the unforgettable run in 2003's edition of SAFF Championship held in Dhaka. The islanders were stopped by the host in a breath taking penalty shoot out after the final match ended in a 1-1 draw.
