20 October 2005

Hurriyyaa team with League shield and other trophies: Hurriyya
is the third team to win Dhivehi League.

Male', MALDIVES - Huriyya sports club wins their first ever dhivehi league title . The huraa island based club won the league titlle giving a very big upset to the leading teams. In an interview to maldivesoccer Huriyya's coach Mr. Goffa said that the management and the club is very happy with the win.

"We did it" He said with full of joy.

"We are very delighted with the win. This is the hard work done by the management and the players"

Goffa said that no body thought Huriyya could win this title.

"Everyone is surprised by this win. No body thought this would happen. But we did it."

He also explained the work done by the players to prepare for the matches played in galholhu grounds.

"We have been working very hard from March. We have practices twice daily. The players learn more on balls and physical fitness. Frankly saying we have no grounds as the ground we use is in a very bad condition. Tsunami has caused a lot of damages to this island" explained the delighted coach.

Mr. Goffa highlighted two important personalities in the development of this small island based club. He noted Huriyya's former coach, Moosa Manik's contribution to the team.

"Moosa did a lot of hard work for the development of the team. The physical fitness and the preparation for the match was very good. When I came here I did not have to work on those aspects"

He also noted the work done by Didi- former manager of Huriyya Sports Club.

"Mr. Didi has been an inspiration for us. He has been a good motivator and has been working closely with the players and the team. The co-operation has been very good from him"

He also noted that Huriyya would not stop from dhivehi league and would continue to keep up the hard work.

" We are the champions now and we have to play like champions. We should take each game very seriously and should work more harder to prove that point." The happy coach explained.

When asked about the prospect of AFC Cup, Huriyya's best ever coach said that he doesn't think of it now.

"We will take each step one by one. Now we are concentrated on National tournament. We will start the practice tonight and we will work hard in the next 3 nights. We have a tough game" He said.

Hurriyya will face New Radiant on 23rd night to battle for a place in the final of 55th National Tournament. Their last encounter was ended infavour of Hurriyya where they won by 2-0.
