New Radiant's Friaq dive high into the goal to save Victory's
controversial goal



Male', MALDIVES - Victory came from behind to beat New Radiant by 2-1 in tonight's game played to open the football season 2006. An own goal from Victory's defender Anwar in the 31st minute couldn't help New Radiant much.

Victory came back into the game when Henrikson strikes inside the six yard box in the 55th minute. New Radiant's star defenders were left helpless when Henrikson took the shot.

Victory almost took the lead five minutes after their first goal, but Referee Ummeedhu decided that the ball didnt cross the line. Eventhough New Radiant's defender Firaq (Malla) dived high into the goal to save the ball, many spectators and Victory players were confident that the ball crossed the line.

Both the keepers faced dangerous shots from the opponents, but the full time ended as a draw.

Victory's winning goal came in the 12 the minute of the second half of extra period. A brilliant corner from Issey and a smart finish from Shiyam (Dhona) glued the ball in the top corner and in the remaining three minutes, New Radiant couldn't do much to save the day.
