Faal! Don't comment on behalf of all the club fans... you don't have any right to do that....Besides being "awesome" to you did you consider how old is the awesome "gold captain"? He is 36 now and by the time the next season starts he will be 37! My guess is that most of the club fans will not think this is a good signing. His play will only slide downwards and pretty fast at that. He is aged and it would have been much better to sign an upcoming youngster. If you look around the world play, this is the trend. My second guess is that Assad has got himself a lucrative deal at the expense of the Club, assisted by the know-all Azmeen, who happens to be a close friend and admirer of Assad. Well Chairman, you and your associates have been taken for a ride. Just ask around, and you will be surprised to see that there will be more people who thinks this is not 'awesome' but "ridiculous"!

wanna check how old ryan giggs, paul scholes, francesco totti, javier zanetti ?? they are role models who proved that dicipline can lead them to a longer career. assad is the role model diciplined player of this generation. theres no doubt he can play and finish his career at a high note :)

Compared to last season, even acquiring an old player means a lot.. n due to the state of transfers in Maldives, it only is a contract for one year unlike in major leagues world wide where the contracts are for 4 - 5 years... n he has already announced it as his last season..n in Maldives, acquiring a player never gives the guarantee that he would stay for the next season.. wats there to lose by getting Assad back in the team?? It might actually help the team from climbing out of the hole its in and which in turn make other 'young' players interested to join the club... though not a youngster, he is a great captain..n it would be a privilege to see him end his career in the Valencia colors... maybe I shud've re-phrased "must be awesome"... I had no intention of commenting on behalf of all CV fans... just my opinion as an individual fan

Ha ha good one Kiss!!! I think Adheel should become the chairman, so that you can come back as coach. The club can re-sign players like lachey, binma, jada, heena, alika, lalith, balaz, also dhona as manager........then there will be one big party.... forget about the football... only thing football won't be great, but the party will be goood... the calendar will show 1980s.....sic..sic..

He was the person who formed this club, worked so hard to bring success and make this club as the most admired and introduced the beautiful football. its because of those people that you are supporting this club and are frustrated cause they are not repeating those successes now. So why don't you just shut the hell up and see what happens next season under the captaincy of Assad!!!

I disagree with Faal! If acquiring an old player means a lot to you and the Club, that does not say a lot about their intentions and capabilities. To me, it states that they have no forward thinking at all and there's a lot to lose by signing him. To appease him, he has to be in the starting line up thereby closing a chance to other players. Practically this means there is only ten places up for grabs in the team. For his salary, i am sure you could have signed two up-coming youngsters and I am pretty sure they would have signed for at least 3 years. Just look around the current youngsters they, according to my information, signed three year contracts. So in the long run you are losing a season to groom a youngster. If he can't play well, i am sure this is going to be the case as he is 37, then how can he lead the team??? Signing him was a mistake and giving him the arm band is an even worse mistake!!!

I like Assad, I think he has been a model professional footballer. Unfortunately we don't have enough of them here in Maldives. However, I considering his age and his intent to retire at the end of 2013, one has to question the Valencia board yet again. They are just making popular short-term signings again just to keep their supporters in check. I will not be surprised if they sign a few more players aged over 35 and include them in the "5 national team players" category. Club Valencia needs to develop a proper masterplan if they are to become competitive once again. I am sure that it is painful for their fans to see the likes of Maziya and Eagles overtaking them.

Assad is still the best leader around, with his experience valencia can do a much better job next season along with those 5 national players they are talkng about. Heard there is a signing ceremony tomorrow at STO home improvement at 1pm, lets see who it will be, maybe Lachchey or Iqbal may sign. if not upcoming young talents may be there...

most of us are not complaining about the signing of the keepers. what we are complaining is the signing of Assad, an old player whose play has deteriorated during the last two years. what we are saying is that the club should not have signed him, instead should have signed a younger player who can give more years to the club. From the other signings we can see that the signings are meant to be short term, next these guys will vanish unless huge sums are again offered to them.... no plans to build a team around upcoming youngsters....
