1. President's Cup
Formerly known as the National Tournament, President Cup (since 2005), is said to be the birth of this beautiful game in Maldives. The very first of this tournament was held in 1946 and this year (2007) will see the 57th edition of this prestigous domestic sports extravaganza. The first edition ended with Customs and Naadhee Ahthamadhun both sharing the trophy.
The current format of the President's Cup allow only the top four teams of Dhivehi League to participate.
This is a tournament open for all the member clubs of Maldives Football Association (FAM). The bigger guns usually appear in this tournament from quarter final stage. Started in 1988, this year will see the 20th edtion of this tournament. This is one tournament where major clubs fights inorder to win a ticket to AFC CUP.
3. Dhivehi Premier League
Dhivehi Premier League is the long lasting tournament of the season with two rounds; 8 teams will compete in the first round and the bottom two will be out in the second round. The top six teams that qualify for the second round will play a total of 12 matches in both rounds to find out the winner. The winner will be awarded with a shield and get the chance to represent the second team of Maldives in next year's AFC CUP.
Dhivehi League is a tournament of six teams from first divsion or zone 9 and the best two teams of zone 1-8.
4. AFC Cup
This is where Maldives club go international. The AFC Cup organised by Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is the second level tournament. The winners of Dhivehi League and FA Cup represent Maldives in this tournament.
Maldivian club New Radiant reached the semi final of 2005's edition and were beaten by Al Faisaly of Jordan, who won the tournament.
