National team players: FAM failed in their promise to give match bon

Male', MALDIVES - It has been emerged that Football Association of Maldives (FAM) did not pay the bonus promised to national team players for winning international games.

In September 2, 2015 both FAM and then chairman of normalisation committee, Shaveed have announced that the autority will pay each player MVR10,000 for each international game wins.

Since then Maldives won two World Cup Qualifying games against Bhutan and two games in last year's SAFF Suzuki Cup.

Maldivesoccer tried to contact FAM's normalisation committee chairman Bassam, who was then GS of FAM but was unable to reach via his mobile.

National squad players didn't claim for the bonus. FAM made the promise out of their own volition. Nobody pressured them. You cannot be successful by lying to your stakeholders. If you look around the world, all successful organisations have integrity or honesty in their mission and vision; and in the heart of everything they do. Unfortunately, you cannot apply this year to FAM, not yet anyway.

Not surprising why national team is producing what it is producing today. At club level players are not properly paid, they are low-spirited and when it comes to national team players are not motivated enough to play for the best of their abilities because a certain FAM is not bothered to fulfil their end of the bargain. In other words, clubs are not helping the standard of football and FAM is destroying whatever that is left of it. And that is Maldives football. Before long the region whipping boys Bhutan will complete our humiliation.

No wonder what we see from national team is a fair reflection of the shabby treatment they get from FAM! So what is the point of world class coach when the so called FAM cannot fulfil the basic necessities of players’ life. Remember how these people come to the media, how they brag about everything, how the life will be for players under the rein of Herbert, how they paint a glossy picture but the actual reality is….chi chi chi!!???

claiming for the bonuses after winning against Bhutan 3 times? shame on the players. Bonuses are introduced to motivate the players and what did FAM or the Maldives football gained from it...nothing. we can easily beat Bhutan on any given day but what about the important games. Players claiming for the bonuses of the only wins against Bhutan says a lot about their motive to play for the national team. ALWAYS, representing the nation should be motivated by pride not monetary values.

We should be ashamed to pay them 10,000 per match. They can't even beat Nepal for good sake!

Out of curiosity, where are all these proposed funds going? New Radiant and Maziya have allegedly not been paid their prize money for winning last season's DPL and President's Cup. Also, FAM's NC decided to suddenly reduce the prize money for winning the league during the middle of the season. Have clubs been given their share of MVR 2 Million before the start of the season? What is going on?

I hope somebody investigates what happened to the money. Hopefully, the new EXCO would publicise the answers with the fans and clubs. Some visitors to MS blaming the players on this issue is not right. It wasn't the players who asked for the money. It was FAM's decision. The lesson to learn is don't mess with clubs and players by using money to spoil their passion and love for the game.
