India and Sri Lanka advances to semi

Trivandrum, INDIA – India advanced to the semi final of 2015 SAFF Suzuki Cup as winners of group A after beating Nepal by 4-1 tonight at the Trivandrum International Stadium.

With this result Sri Lanka advanced to the semi final as runners up of group A with 3 points from 2 games. India lead the group with 6 points 2 games while Nepal finished the group without a win.

Bimal Magar scored the opening goal of the game in the third minute but India came back into the game with goals from Rowlin Borges, Suni Chhetri and a brace from Lallianzuala Chhangte.

Rowling Borges leveled the game for India in the 26th minute from a free kick into the box and he blasted into the roof of the net.

Indian skipper Sunil Chhetri took the lead for the home side in the 67th minute and he placed the ball into the back of the net.

In the 81st minute Indian youngster Lallianzuala scored his first goal for the Blue Tigers at the age of 18. And he scored his second of the night in the last minute of the normal time from a descent header.

India will face the runners up of group B on Thursday.
