Male’, MALDIVES – Veteran striker, Ali Umar has thanked all the supporters, friends, family and especially his wife for their continuous support in his 17 years as a player after retiring from football tonight.
Speaking to maldivesoccer.com tonight Ali Umar said that it was a sad moment but there is a time for everything and this is the right time to take this decision.
“For everything there is an end so this is the right time to retire.”
"Thank you all the supporters, friends, family and especially his wife for their continuous support during these years."
When asked about a possibility of working in the management side of any club Ali Umar said that he will not work in the management side of any club.
“I don’t like to work in the management side and I will not work in the management side.”
Maldivesoccer.com can confirm that Ali Umar is getting ready for contesting in the upcoming Parliament election.
“Yes, I am ready to contest in the parliament election and I will announce it when the right time comes.”
Ali Umar (34) started his playing career with Youth Sports in 1996 and in 1998 he moved to Club Valencia, where he has spent his golden days. After successful six years with Valencia, Ali Umar moved to Island Football Club in 2005 and in 2006 he moved to New Radiant. Just a year with the Blues he moved to VB Addu FC and he played there till 2011. In 2012 Ali Umar moved back to New Radiant and played an important role in the clubs most successful two years in their history. Ali Umar was a member of Maldives National team since 1998
